But Baby it's Cold Outside...

Before I start rambling on.. Merry Christmas everyone! :D
Hope everyone had a good one :)

I love music so when something different and new comes along such as the lovely Ariana Grande, who collaborates with Larry Lovestein (who happens to be Mac Miller), to sing the Elf made famous christmas classic (with slightly creepy lyrics..), 'Baby it's Cold Outside' I kinda got a little excited as well as surprised.

Following Miss Grande on Twitter on Instagram it was clearly obvious that they were gonna collaborate, as well as mentioning it in this interview (2:30) (I noticed a lot of shipping from the comments which made me giggle). From my point of view this was a complete surprise and I was really looking forward to seeing what they would be singing together.

Comparing to 'She & Him' rendition, which I should add had the perfect video that went with it, which was quick and up beat and Zooey Deschanel in Elf with Leon Redbone version which is close to the original and it has to be my favorite christmas song; Grande and Miller put their own spin on the song making it slow with the soft piano playing in the background, I think i'll be playing this one every season.

When I first heard it I thought the piano solo lasted quite a while but it was ever so soothing but then Ariana voice came in then Miller's, to be honest I think this is a match made in heaven. <3 From the comments on youtube you can tell the mixfeeling from this colab, but the softness and sweetness in Ari's voice and Mac's slick almost raspy ('I just woke up') voice, they just go. It's almost that bad boy + good girl image they're trying to portray, I love it!
Hope all is well and ttyl <3

Songs of the Week:
I got 'Take Me Home' for christmas, gotta say I can't turn it off, it's been re-play! :/
Gotta love the 1D boys ;)

Talking about Larry Lovestein you guys should check out
Larry Lovestein & The Velvet Revival extra bonus it's free download! Defo not the mac miller you're thinking of, it's very quirky and has this jazz feel to it.

Also you should check my playlist on my youtube, I tend to update my favorites list  I can't stop listening to The Strokes lately. When Spotify finally comes to Singapore or when I finally get back to the UK i'll make sure i'll get a playlist up on my blog :)

nanananana...BATMAN!

Helloo everyone!

I have finally got back on track with my blogging, I'm really terrible at this; but i'll get the hang of it...eventually!
I watched batman the day after it was released here in lovely Singapore, and might I add it was packed thank god I have very organised family and we booked the tickets :)
The film was about 3hours which I didn't even realize it was brilliant, everything that happened I didn't even expect, I don't want to spoil it as it was just realist so stop reading HERE:
Christian Bale transitioned his characters well from Bruce Wayne to Batman; he really gave the movie it edge where the lovely Michael Cane (Alfred) gave the movie its sadness and you felt sorry for both characters and you really feel part of the movie, which is what I really enjoyed.
Tom Hardy (Bane) who I didn't even recognized, he really did an amazing job playing the Bane for someone so strong but actually in the shadow of the beautiful Marion Cotillard (Miranda Tate) who was actually Talia al Ghul who is  the one trying to blow up Gotham City; although helped Wayne Enterprises.
The twist of plot was well shown and placed and ending had to be the best part, I was actually on the edge of my seat when the bomb was in it's last minutes of exploding and to see it explode you could feel the different emotions from the different characters.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Blake), really had a big part in the movie, being the one who really got batman back on track and to find out his real name is Robin, well that let off a big *gasp* in the audience, was not expecting that. Anne Hathaway really did amazing with Catwoman, she looked amazing and her acting was amazing, she was defiantly one though cookie haha I can't say more!
I was expecting for batman to live, so to see him in Paris across the table he smiles to Alfred, I think everyone smiled back with him; and for him to give the house away to the orphanage was a nice touch to the ending as well.
It was a typical happy ending, but it all added up together which I liked, it defiantly deserves:
☆  ☆  ☆  ☆  ☆- 5 stars
The directing was brilliant how the shots made you feel part of the film, I liked how he didn't follow the 3D film train as most superhero films are using it, and he still manged to do a brilliant job with it.
The only problem I had with the film was that you really had to remember the last film at times which could have been a problem for some people, as it was a little for me; but that was the only thing I spotted.

Summer ☼

SUMMERR nuff said. :)

During a trip to Hong Kong I went to visit my friends over there and we went to watch the amazing spider-man. Before I get into it, I loved Andrew Garfield in Never Let Me Go, I loved the book and the whole cast did an amazing job with that movie so for me to find out he was playing spider-man made me the happiest person ever and he didn't let me down. I prefer him as Peter Parker as he plays the awkward science geek far more better than Tobey. Emma Stone was amazing as usual, she played Gwen perfectly, being Parker's first love you can really see there chemistry together (also supposedly being a real life couple as well!). Rhys Ifans played an amazing villain and was not expecting that to happen, scared the living day lights out of me; especially when Gwen was hiding in the room from the lizard, I think we all jumped with her. For the movie as the whole it was brilliant there was not one part that I wasn't interested in or didn't bore me.
Can't say anything more about it, I have to admit the old spider-man didn't amaze me as much as this one (although I did love Tobey Maguire) I have to say this has been a favorite yet!
☆  ☆  ☆  ☆  ☆- 5 stars It was truly amazing and they've picked the best actors yet for this one!

2nd movie I watched when I got back with my friends was the Chernobyl Diaries, haven't heard of it link to the trailer here :)
So this movie is not my type, I was dragged to watch it as I hate scary movies, but knowing it was the director of paranormal activity, it kind of gave me hope that it isn't as scary as most movies are, as I could put up with the paranormal franchise.
The whole point of the movie is guy is living in some place in either Ukraine or Russia and his little brother ( who happens to be  Jesse McCartney ) comes out with his girlfriend and her best friend. The older brother suggests to go to this place called
Chernobyl, might I add is a real place in Ukraine. In 1986 one of the four nuclear reactors had exploded in Chernobyl which let off radio active materials into the atmosphere which affected this whole town and left them to flee their town.
The set must have been film not been filmed there, but the set was amazing comparing it to the real life area (which I might add looks like COD!) The movie wasn't as scary as the trailer makes it but there are some parts the really get you so I give the movie:
☆  ☆  ☆ - 3 Stars for the set and the movie as a whole as you generally feel sorry for these people!
A movie I didn't really hype about but I suggest you go out and watch it as it was still a pretty good film!

Songs of the month:

Frank Ocean - Thinking About You (You don't even know how much I love this song)
Connor Maynard - Can't Say No (Been listening to this kid for years now, so proud of him :') catchy tune too!)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! Hope all is well and ttyl

The Avengers

It's obvious what i'm going to be talking about today,
First off it was amazayn ;) *sorry need a 1D joke in there*
I watch it last month and i'm sorry I haven't been on for a while World lit is done, EE draft is coming along and Exams are in 2weeks, so yeah IB has been pretty stressful...
This post is going to be a short one but I wanted to share my thoughts on the film and why you guys should go watch it, which i'm pretty sure you all would have already.
I am a big comic book geek, I loved Heroes, so sad it ended, X-men I grew up watching and Archie Comic's I grew up reading; for Avengers to come out was pretty exciting for me.
For someone who hadn't watched Captain America and Thor YET but watched Iron man, it didn't really bother me that much because the movie pretty much explained it for me, which was good.
For all you people who don't stay after the credits STAY for all the movies, it sums up EVERYTHING
I loved the humor in the movie especially the Hulk totally owning Loki made my day, the graphics were amazing;
and one thing I wanted to add for anyone who has watched the movie, did you notice the girl working the cafe who captain america saves and she talks to the news, I feel like she has a important role in the next movies to come *fingers crossed* I don't know maybe i'm over thinking it, just wondering thought I'd ask :P

☆  ☆  ☆  ☆  ☆  - I loved it that much
Well that is all for today, got to get back to my IOP work,

Song of the month *since I haven't been on here for a while*:
Edward Sharpe and the magnetic crew & Philip Philips version - Home
We are young - Fun ft Janelle Mondáe (it's been stuck in my head this whole month)

May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor

The other day I watched The Hunger Games with of my two close friends, not knowing the story very well as I haven't read the books yet! I really wanted to watch due to Mr Hutcherson who has been my favourite actor since I saw the bridge to terabithia (yes he made me cry when she died) and I have been meaning to watch little manhattan, (added to my long list of things to do).

(link to the Trailer------^)

☆☆☆☆(4stars)
Okay so my opinon of the movie from someone who cannot compare to the book, I must say I really enjoyed it, there was so much hype about it and surely did live up to it expectations and it's made me want to read the book! Before I go on I may spoil some of the scenes that I loved and also this is my opinon, yours may differ and I would love to hear what you thought of the movie too!

I feel the movie is going to be the new Harry Potter/Twilight 'books into movies' thing after both movies have or are going to end, this movie will take over. Before I start, the movie is about a 16 year old girl called Katniss (I must say I do love all there 'unique' names) who is living in the future. Katniss volenters in protection of her sister to compete with 23 other young girls and boys in a battle; One boy and one girl between the ages of 12-18 are chosen from 12 disricts which surround the capital, to win they must kill one another till there is only one surivor.

Katniss played by Jennifer Lawrence, I give full credit to her. She really had portrayed her character as a  very strong girl and made everyone (definately me) feel what she was feeling, hats off to her! For all you Liam Hemsworth fans, sorry but he's not in the movie for very long which shocked me and my friends with all the posters and hype, but I must say for the 5-10mins we saw him, they really portrayed the connection between Katniss and Gale and you actually had to 'awww' when see Gale's face as he watches Katniss and Peeta, you had to feel sorry for him! Peeta played by Josh Hutcherson he did an amazing job showing his love for Katniss, I just sighed through all his parts I must admit.. For all the characters you either feel sorry what they are going through (which I deeply felt for Katniss, Peeta and Rue) or you just want them to suffer, I may sound mean but i'm sure you'll understand  if you know the story.

If you're a bit sqeemish there are parts (which you will cringe a bit) where they show really deep cuts; you will really feel the pain that their feeling! Also the thought of watching children die might scare some people, it's not bad to watch but it really gets your heart going at some points.

SPOILER: small spoiler which people may already know, which I didn't but kind of guessed it already. At the end when cato (from district2) has peeta, you don't know really what going to happen but you know Katniss is going to live, so at this point you're at the edge of your seat (well I definatelly was!) Everyone probably wanted Peeta to live! (which he does!) I really liked the ending when they are willing to both die for eachother (Romeo and Juliet moment) but then they obviously make both of them the winners, and you are left with Coriolanus Snow walking away up the stairs... *BAM MOVIE ENDS*

The ending kinda bore me but it wanted me to watch a 2nd movie *fingers crossed* for Catching Fire :D

I have to share this photo I found on tumblr, if you know the story you'll get it:
Me and my friends laughed at the bread clips through out the flim cause we just didn't get it at all
(then eventually we got it :P)
So that is the end of my blabbing of how I loved the movie, and keeping to the theme

This is lightning and feathers, everything to do with travel, fashion, the odd beauty tip and my lust for music. I started this to see where it will take me as I had aways wanted to start a blog, a new year a new me! I desided to start now in my middle year of my ib diploma when things aren't so hectic (yet) and I can share my experiances with you, who ever is reading this now, yes you! Well I should stop babbling and tell you a little more about me:

Heather Jean Clark, 17 (very soon), I'm half scottish, half filipino but I live in Singapore, I'm a fashion junkie, but I've had an everlasting love for travel (I got on my first plane before I reached the age of one!) I love music, I will listen to anything, from indie rock to old school rock, I will definatly have one of those days where I'lll gush to you about my love for a certain band.

So I should leave it at that, before I start getting too deep.. Well I hope I managed not to bore you and I hope you'll stick around for more!
